Kudos to the AV team and the many other colleagues that have brought this to life, especially under the current circumstances. Previous episodes include ‘Women in sports’, ‘Athletes’ retirement’ and ‘Mental health in sports’. Its objective is to use the relevance that the voice of different EuroLeague stakeholders has to openly talk about those issues and try to educate and inspire others in an attempt of building a better world for all, starting by the EuroLeague world. The Table Talk series, produced by Euroleague Basketball, try to remove the make-up and the glitter that usually surrounds professional sports and athletes, and dig deeper on matters that are of importance for its athletes, other professionals and organisations. Many will still not understand, but that should not overshadow the good it does. Every time a player speaks about his/her mental problems, every time an athlete openly speaks about his/her sexuality, every time he/she speaks about how they feel as a person, they are helping many people that are going through a similar situation. Because they inspire a lot of people and they have to use that power in the right way. And they also have a responsibility of doing so. They have every right to feel, we can’t take that from them. However, they have every right to go through down moments, to express what concerns them. They are all grateful for being in a privileged position and work hard to improve and do what they love for as long as possible. Top athletes do not complain about being an athlete. We should try not to confuse things though. “Getting paid for playing basketball, with so much money in their bank accounts, they should not complain.” This is in some way a fair reaction from someone that considers is in a much worse situation, or that compare the comfortable life players live with that of other people that go through lot more difficulties in many fronts. Same as everyone else.īut when any given player raises his/her voice to express feelings, they often are not understood by many. They feel the pain, they go through tough mental situations. They go through good and bad, happy and sad moments. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations. Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled.
